She made her acting debut in the 2008 film Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! along with Abhay Deol, Paresh Rawal, Neetu Chandra and Manu Rishi.
But it was in 2012 that she got her big break in the Gangs of Wasseypur.
For her role as Nagma Khatoon, she was nominated for a Filmfare Award, a Screen Award, a Stardust Award, a Zee Cine Award and won the Filmfare Awards for Best Actress (Critics).
Not one to rest on her laurels, she has four films coming out in 2014.
