The Top Bollywood Actress on the Net

I used to do a lot of top tens here, but it seemed to really be pointless.
One lady kept winning over and over and over.
That lady was Katrina Kaif.
But now an "old school" favorite is taking back over, Aishwarya Rai.
Yes Ash finally topped Katrina in searches in March.
Why?
I dont really know.
She did five movies in 2010 (Raavan (Hindi), Raavanan (Tamil), Enthiran (Tamil), Action Replayy (Hindi) and Guzaarish (Hindi)) and not a single film in 2011.
Maybe Kat is finally wearing down...or Ash is getting that "Legend" status.

You know what the sad thing is?
I never really got the whole "most beautiful woman in the world" thing.

Bollywood to Hollywood?

Bollywood actresses seem to be getting more and more attention worldwide.
And since they are getting attention, that gets the notice of Hollywood.
Here are some of the big Bollywood actresses that are either thinking about going to Hollywood, have already gone there, or are rumored to be going there.
By the way, in a reversal of this, Twilight star Kristen Stewart is not going to Bollywood to star in Panni as was earlier rumored.

It seems there was a battle heating up between Slumdog Millionaire's Freida Pinto and former Miss World and India's most successful actress Aishwarya Rai.
Rumor had it that both were being considered for the Bond girl in the next James Bond film.
But this battle may all be for naught, as the next Bond film has been suspended indefinitely and has been shelved.
The sequel (so far only known as Bond 23) was scheduled for release in late 2011 or in 2012 to coincide with the franchise's 50th anniversary.
Eon Productions' parent company MGM is in a financial mess right now, so we may never know if Ash or Freida would have won out.

But all is not lost in Hollywood for Bollywood.
British-born Indian actress Jiah Khan maybe headed to Tinsel Town.
It's rumored that Jiah may be involved in two international projects based out of Hollywood.

A Bollywood actresses that has been spending a lot of time in Hollywood, Mallika Sherawat, has gotten another feather in her cap in the US.
She recently won the the 2008 Renaissance Artist Award at the Multicultural Motion Picture Association’s Diversity Awards.
In the past, actresses like Salma Hayek, Halle Berry, and Monica Belluci have won the award.
After this, starring in Hisss, Love, Barack and getting a Honorary Citizenship in Los Angeles, I wonder if Mallika will ever return to India?

Madhuri Dixit, Priyanka Chopra, Kajol and Aishwarya Rai

Bollywood is still wondering if the legendary Madhuri Dixit will accept the role of Indira Gandhi (India's first and only female Prime Minister) in Krishna Shah's upcoming biopic.
But while everyone is waiting on Madhuri, Krishna is approaching Hollywood stars like Tom Hanks, Tommy Lee Jones, Albert Finney, Helen Mirren and Emily Watson for roles in the movie.
But while her role as Indira Gandhi may still be up in the air, Madhuri appears to be going ahead with portraying another historical Indian figure, Ambapali (Ambapālika or Amrapāli).
Indian film director and choreographer Farah Khan is planning to produce a Broadway show based on Amrapali, and she wants Madhuri for the lead.

Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra continues her dominance over at Twitter.
As of this entry, she has over 103,000 followers.
And Twitter is not the only place that the lovely Bollywood actress can be found.

Another Bollywood film generating a lot of buzz is My Name Is Khan starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol.
Just by looking at the trailer, both Kajol and Khan look they turn in very powerful performances.

The ever popular Aishwarya Rai is very busy these days.
She is filming the science-fiction Tamil–language film Endhiran, the Tamil language drama film Raavana (and the same movie Raavan in Hindi), the time travel film Action Replay and finally (for now at least) Guzaarish.
But Ash did take time out recently to actually do her own Tweet on Twitter, although she was on her husband Abhishek’s account.
So when is Ash gonna get her own Twitter account?

Deepika Padukone and Bollywood Actresses on Twitter

CNN.com has an article up about the incredible rise of Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone.
I didn't realize her path to stardom was so humble, but in reading this, I think in the future, the life of Deepika might actually make a good film itself.

"After deciding to become a model at the age of 16, she was picked out of a music video by acclaimed director Farah Khan and cast in her next film opposite Shahrukh Khan. "Om Shanti Om" went on to become not only a hit in India, but also gained wider acclaim among western audiences."

I mentioned awhile back about Bollywood actress Mallika Sherawat using her Twitter account, but I really had no idea so many Bollywood beauties used Twitter.
Besides Mallika, Aishwarya Rai, Preity Zinta, Bipasha Basu, Madhuri Dixit and Ayesha Takia all have Twitter accounts, among others.

Aishwarya Rai, Priyanka Chopra and Rani Mukherjee

One of the most successful female filmstars in the history of Indian cinema, Hema Malini, has said that the only Bollywood actress that deserves the title "Dream Girl" is the beautiful and talented Aishwarya Rai.
High praise indeed coming from a lady thats made a name for herself as not only an Indian actress, director and producer but as a Bharatanatyam dancer-choreographer as well.
The lovely Ash is keeping herself busy, with four movies coming out in 2010.
First up is Endhiran, a science-fiction Tamil language film being directed by S. Shankar.
Then Ashokavanam, also a Tamil film, directed, written and produced by Mani Ratnam.
Next up are two Hindi movies, Raavan, also being directed by Mani Ratnam, and Action Replay directed by Vipul Shah.


There is a rumor going around that Priyanka Chopra is going to work with UK-based pop star Jay Sean on his new album.
Priyanka big fan of Jay Sean’s music and it's rumored that she will appear in at least one music video for him.
This isn't Jay Sean’s first Bollywood connection.
The lovely Bipasha Basu worked with him on his music video "Stolen".


And the bad feelings between Salman Khan and Aditya Chopra have been healed thanks to Rani Mukherjee.
Evidently the love of Salman's life and the friend of Aditya has been working behind the scenes to get the two back on speaking terms.
So I guess you can add "peacemaker" to Rani's list of credits.

Aishwarya Rai News

A lot of people talk about family values, but Aishwarya Rai not only talks the talk, but she walks the walk.
The beautiful Bollywood actress was set to recieve the ‘Officer Dan Ordre Des Arts Et Des Lettres’(officer of the order of arts and letters) from the French government.
But Aishwarya's father was ill and Aishwarya asked the French goverment to post-pone the ceremony until he was well.
She wanted her entire family there for the ceremony.
Now that her father is well enough, she has informed the French authorities to go ahead with it.
To understand the gravity of what Aishwarya did, you have to understand that there is only one higher French civilan honour to receive, the Legion d’honour.
And in 2007, the Officer Dan Ordre Des Arts Et Des Lettres was bestowed upon Shahrukh Khan.

Rani Mukherjee is Back in Shape

Well evidently it worked!
Aamir Khan's personal fitness trainer Satyajit Chaurasia must have gotten Bollywood actress Rani Mukherjee into shape.
According to an article at apunkachoice.com, The Bengali beauty is back and looking better than ever.

And oneindia is reporting that Rani is going to start writing scripts.
They are saying that Rani is taking up writing to give her career a new lease on life.
I don't know about that, she seems to still have a fairly large fan base and with this "new" appearance, she may already have that new lease.

And by the way, Aishwarya Rai had an offer to replace Rani as the spokes person for a popular mosquito repellent cream, but turned it down. Ash is very particular and will only endorse products she believes in.
So I guess that means the mosquito repellent doesn't work.

First, Aishwarya has turned down a very lucrative deal from L'Oreal to star in their L'Oreal Fairness Cream Ads.

Second, Deepika Padukone has replaced Aishwarya in Kalpana Lazmi’s film ‘Singhasan’.

As I mentioned before, Aishwarya will star with Steve Martin in the Pink Panther 2 in 2009. She will play Sonia Solandres, a criminology expert.
She will also star with Abhishek Bachchan in the Hindi language film Raavan, a present day version of the Indian epic Ramayana. Aishwarya will play a contemporary Sita.
Aishwarya will star with Vikram in the movie Ashokavanam, this movie will be a Tamil language version of Raavan shot at the same time. Aishwarya will play the same character in both movies.

Katrina was actually born in Hong Kong on July 16, 1984, raised in Hawaii and modeled in London. In 2009 she will be appearing in Billu Barber (with Kareena Kapoor), Blue, New York, Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, De Dana Dan, Rajniti and a Padosan remake.

Kajol
Was born on born August 5, 1975 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. Kajol will be taking it a bit easier with only three movies coming out in 2009. Toonpur Ka Superhero, Koochie Koochie and My Name is Khan.

Deepika Padukone
Another foreign born Bollywood actress, she was born on born January 5, 1986 in Copenhagen, Denmark. In 2009 she will appear in Billu Barber (who isn't in this movie?), Chandni Chowk To China and Production No.1.

Madhuri Dixit
A bit older than the other actresses on this list,, she was born on May 15, 1967 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. She hasn't acted in a movie since Aaja Nachle in 2007, but that didn't stop her from coming in at seven on this list.

Priyanka Chopra
Born July 18, 1982 in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, India. She has three movies coming out in 2009. Billu Barber (Yes, her too), What's Your Raashee? and Kaminay

New Delhi, Dec 6 (IANS) Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who has her bag full of projects along with marital responsibilities to shoulder, says she takes up only those projects which she can handle.

"Whether it is films or endorsements, I am - and have been - very selective about my work. I take up work which suits and fits in my schedule," Aishwarya told IANS.

Rai will play the wife of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan
Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai is set to star in a major film about the Taj Mahal, India's famous monument to love.
Rai, 33, will play the role of Mumtaz Mahal, the favourite wife of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan who built the stunning monument for her.

Bollywood's Aishwarya Rai to star in Pink Panther

NEW DELHI (Reuters) - Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai is to star alongside Hollywood actor Steve Martin in the upcoming sequel to the 2006 movie "The Pink Panther", a newspaper reported on Friday.

The Hindustan Times said the former Miss World will play a detective in the new film about the clumsy French policeman Inspector Clouseau, played by Martin. The sequel will also star Andy Garcia and John Cleese, it said.

"It is true that Aishwarya has signed the film," Hari Singh, Rai's business manager, was quoted as saying.

Singh said 33-year-old Rai was currently finishing Hindi films "Akbar-Jodha" and "Sarkar 2" and would start shooting for "The Pink Panther 2" from the beginning of September.

Based on the 1964 original starring Peter Sellers, "The Pink Panther" saw singer Beyonce Knowles star opposite Martin.

The actor bags a place in a world power list of beautiful women that includes Angelina Jolie and Queen Rania

While we don’t need any list to prove Aishwarya Rai is beautiful, the West certainly can’t seem to get enough of her. And marriage to Abhishek Bachchan certainly hasn’t seemed to have affected her appeal.

In a list on the 100 most beautiful women today published by the current Harpers and Queen magazine, the former Miss World has been placed ninth. Interestingly, she bagged the same position in the publication’s list last year too.

Hollywood actor Angelina Jolie topped the list followed by supermodel Christy Turlington, Queen Rania of Jordan, film director Sofia Coppola and celebrity chef Nigella Lawson. The compilation was made by 1000 experts from the all over the world from varied fields of fashion, arts and the media.

Ash, who is shooting in Karjat for Ashutosh Gowarikar’s ‘Jodha Akbar’, was not available for comment, but hubby Abhishek is certainly one lucky man, wot say?
