If there ever was a Bollywood cross-over star, it's Priyanka Chopra.
She's appeared in close to 50 Bollywood films in India.
Then she released the song "In My City" featuring American rapper will.i.am.
THEN she released another song, "Exotic" featuring American rapper Pitbull.
And now she is gonna star in the ABC TV series, "Quantico".
So now Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra will be American TV star, Priyanka Chopra.
Not too bad.

Sonakshi Sinha In, Zarine Khan Out?

Sonakshi Sinha was born on June 2nd,1987.
She just made her acting debut in the Hindi action film Dabangg, along side her mentor Salman Khan.
Yes, Sonakshi is the new protege of Salman, replacing the Katrina Kaif look a like, Zarine Khan who just debuted in the not so epic Veer, alongside Salman back in January.
Maybe Zarine looked too much like Katrina.

Anyway, as opposed to Veer, Dabangg opened really well with some single screen theatres reporting 100% occupancy, while some multiplexes reported an 80 to 100% occupancy.
It actually beat the record opening day of last years mega hit, 3 Idiots, netting 3.26 million the first day.
So far it has pulled in over 31 million dollars worldwide.

This bodes quite well for Sonakshi, and makes you wonder what will become of Zarine now.

And as for Sonakshi's future, there is a rumor that she has beaten out both Katrina (gasp!) and Deepika Padukone to star opposite Akshay Kumar in Joker!

Bollywood Actress Katrina Kaif, The Good and The Bad

While Mallika Sherawat seems to be conquering Hollywood, Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif seems to be conquering everything else.
Katrina has been honored with the Rajiv Gandhi Award under the Best Actress category in Hindi cinema.
Katrina is also being listed as the most "Googled" actress in Bollywood cinema and she was voted "The Sexiest Woman in India" by FHM.

But despite all that, everything isn't coming up roses for Katrina.
Actor Jackie Shroff’s wife, Ayesha Shroff has come forth and announced that Katrina Kaif's real name is Katrina Turquotte.
Katrina has always maintained that her Kaif surname was due to her Kashmiri father, but Ayesha says that the name on Katrina's passport when she came to India was Katrina Turquotte.

Riya Sen in Zor Laga ke Haiya

Bollywood actress Riya Sen is getting a lot of press for her new role in the upcoming Hindi film "Zor Laga ke Haiya".
Riya has discarded her sultry glamorous look to take on the role of a construction worker named Chamki.
The movie is directed by Girish Joshi and is about an egotistical award winning sculptor (played by Mithun Chakraborthy) who can not adjust to the times he is living in.
Riya plays a Marathi girl that works as a construction worker.
Besides Riya and Mithun, the movie also stars Mahesh Manjrekar, Seema Biswas, Megan, Ayesha Kaduskar, Hardik Thakkar, Ritvik Tyagi and Ashwin Chitale.
"Zor Laga ke Haiya" will be released sometime in May of this year.

Preity Zinta News

Preity Zinta has several films coming out this year, but one, Deepa Mehta's Videsh, is already stirring up some controversy.
The film tackles the issue of domestic violence and has raised some concern with the Censor Board in India.

Deepika Padukone in Chandni Chowk to China

Chandni Chowk to China may have not done very well at the box office in India, but the film has netted Deepika Padukone a lot of good press in China.
Deepika has been nominated for Best Actress at the 33rd Hong Kong International Film Festival.
She is the first Indian actress to ever get this honor.

Chandni Chowk to China starred Akshay Kumar and Deepika Padukone in the lead roles with Hindi cinema veteran Mithun Chakraborty and Hong Kong action cinema veteran Gordon Liu in supporting roles.
The film was shot in China and in Bangkok, Thailand and it was distributed in the U.S. and co-produced by Warner Bros.
It was Warner Bros. first Hindi film.

The film got negative reviews by critics, but what struck me as unusual was that the fim was reviewed in the US by USA Today, Newsday, The Philadelphia Inquirer, Entertainment Weekly and the Chicago Tribune.
To me this testifies to the widening appeal of Bollywood films.

They celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary on February 24.
Kajol and their five year old daughter, Nysa, flew to Bhopal to be with Ajay on their anniversary.

Kismat Konnection has had a disappointing opening and is likely to be counted as a flop against Balan's name. Someone was not interested in the film but it is difficult to say who because along the way the contagion must have spread to the entire cast, all of whom looked disinterested.

CUMBRIA has said goodbye to Bollywood with a party for the 35 cast members and crew of the Indian film Mr Bhatti on Chutti.

The party at Cassa on Botchergate, Carlisle, was arranged for everyone who worked on the three-week shoot.

Alan Saywell, film officer for Vision and Media, said: “It’s been an incredibly busy time, and I think everyone involved in the production has learnt an awful lot about the Indian way of doing things, and it’s an experience I wouldn’t have missed.”

The first full-scale Bollywood production in Carlisle and in the Lake District, was shot last month.

Hopes are high that this will be the first in a long line of Indian films to be filmed on location in Cumbria.

Indian actress Shilpa Shetty to launch yoga DVD

MUMBAI, India: Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty is filming a yoga DVD and plans to market it overseas later this year, her publicist said Thursday.

The two-hour yoga DVD is currently being filmed by Shetty's production house in southern India's Kerala state, said Dale Bhagwagar, Shetty's spokesman.

"Shilpa practices yoga every day and she believes it should be a way of life for everyone," said Bhagwagar. "Yoga has become a fashion statement in the West, but Shilpa wants to educate people about the original form of yoga, the ashtanga yoga, with the right techniques and breathing exercises."

The well-known Indian actress underwent intensive training this month in preparation to ensure she perfected the "asanas" or postures for the DVD, which will initially be sold in Britain and Dubai.

Hindi film biggies like Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan and Priyanka Chopra have said no to Hollywood offers. BT finds out why

Until recently, India's only export to Hollywood was Aishwarya Rai. Today, Hollywood's calling even smaller names like Koena Mitra, Celina Jaitley and Randeep Hooda to give their films an Indian twist.

But the charm of the west has waned considerably in the last few years for most desi stars. And it's not just the biggies like Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan; even Celina Jaitley has said no to Hollywood.

Hrithik's filmmaker father Rakesh Roshan says the Hollywood role didn't excite Hrithik enough. "Hrithik was offered a role in Pink Panther 2. The role was meaty, but he didn't like the script very much.

More Meera

Meera is a movie actress from Pakistan. She is based in Lahore.

Through late 2004 and early 2005, she worked on her first Bollywood project Nazar, directed by Soni Razdan. This movie was the first joint production between India and Pakistan. It was released in February 2005. It immediately landed in trouble with the Pakistani Government, who objected strongly to a scene where she kisses the hero (played by Ashmit Patel of India), on religious and moral grounds. Allegedly, Meera has been fined an undisclosed amount for the kiss. Reportedly, the Pakistani Government is also considering a ban on Pakistani actors from working on Indian projects.

Later doubts were placed on Meera's claim that she had been fined when the Pakistani government denied placing any fines on Meera for the kiss. Mahesh Bhatt, the film's producer has been known for antics such as these to gain popularity for his movie projects. She had also claimed to have received death threats that were strongly disputed by her own colleagues.

Meera has done more bolder roles in local Pakistani movies and also some lewd videos of her and an unidentified man which have been leaked out are doing their rounds on the internet. Meera is known to be a dancer in Heera Mandi,like Reema Pakistan's infamous red light district based in Lahore.

Meera is also set to join the social work bandwagon in the footsteps of people like Imran Khan, Abrar ul Haq, Jawad Ahmad and Shehzad Roy. She is going to establish a social welfare organization that will provide shelter to homeless and needy women. The project will be named after her mother Shafqat Zehra. "A complex spread over an area of 16 acres of land will be constructed in Sheikhupura comprising a school, hospital and home for the needy and homeless women. My mother has donated land for the project. I myself will take care of the project. I know it is a tough job to complete such a big project but I am determined to do it," Meera said.

Bollywood's Aishwarya Rai to star in Pink Panther

NEW DELHI (Reuters) - Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai is to star alongside Hollywood actor Steve Martin in the upcoming sequel to the 2006 movie "The Pink Panther", a newspaper reported on Friday.

The Hindustan Times said the former Miss World will play a detective in the new film about the clumsy French policeman Inspector Clouseau, played by Martin. The sequel will also star Andy Garcia and John Cleese, it said.

"It is true that Aishwarya has signed the film," Hari Singh, Rai's business manager, was quoted as saying.

Singh said 33-year-old Rai was currently finishing Hindi films "Akbar-Jodha" and "Sarkar 2" and would start shooting for "The Pink Panther 2" from the beginning of September.

Based on the 1964 original starring Peter Sellers, "The Pink Panther" saw singer Beyonce Knowles star opposite Martin.

The 29 year old daughter of a Mumbai policeman, whose real name is Neeru Sawant has bagged an item number in Rakesh Roshan's comedy thriller Krazy 4.

"The first person I informed was Karan Johar. I thanked him for inviting me on his show. My career has taken an upward swing after featuring on Koffee with Karan."

Rakesh Roshan confirmed he had signed up Rakhi telling Mid Day, "Rakhi is performing a song in the film."

Mallika Sherawat is all set to replace Zeenat Aman

Mallika Sherawat is all set to replace Zeenat Aman in Feroz Khan’s Qurbani remake.

Feroz has apparently been searching for a heroine for a long time. Priyanka Chopra was reportedly considered for the role but was not finalized. Now, reports allege that Mallika has bagged the part.

In the film, Mallika will be paired with Fardeen Khan who plays the role enacted by his father in the original film.

Hunt is still on for another hero to play the role enacted by Vinod Khanna. Saif Ali Khan was initially finalized for the part, but the actor opted out of the project due to date problems.

However, this time Feroze Khan will not play the lead role of the suave thief Rajesh. Instead he will step into the shoes of the eccentric inspector Amjad Khan, played by late Amjad Khan.
