Rani Mukherjee , part 1

Rani Mukherjee
Rani Mukherjee (Bengali: রাণী মুখার্জী (also known as Rani Mukerji), born March 21, 1978 in Bengal, India) is an Indian film actress. She is a 6 time Filmfare Award Winner. She is one of the most popular actresses in the industry. Since her first break on celluloid in 1996, the actress has appeared in nearly 40 films. Today, she has emerged as one of the finest and most successful actresses of the country.

Mukherjee comes from a film-oriented family of Bengali origin: Her father Ram Mukherjee is a retired director and her mother Krishna formerly worked as a playback singer. Her brother Raja Mukherjee is also a film producer. Her maternal aunt, Debashree Roy, was a popular Bengali actress and her cousin Kajol is another successful Bollywood actress. Sharbani Mukherjee is her cousin.

She graduated from Maneckjee Cooper High School in Juhu. Soon afterwards, Rani received a few film offers and thus, set her foot on the Indian film-industry capital, Mumbai. From there onwards, she pursued a high-profile career in acting and became an integral part of the world's largest film-industry.

Her first Hindi film was Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat (1996), which did not do well at the box office. However, her next two releases - Ghulam and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998) - were hits. For the latter she received her first Filmfare Award in the Best Supporting Actress category.

Mukherjee was in great demand after sudden stardom and signed contracts to work in many promising projects. Unfortunately, most of the movies didn't do well at the box office. Though Badal was the sixth highest grossing film of the year 2000, her most quantitative year in terms of movies released, she was still producing more average movies than expected from her. In 2002, she re-established her fame in Saathiya which was critically and commercially successful.

In 2003, she starred in Chalte Chalte opposite Shah Rukh Khan; the film was a semi-hit. 2004 was the most significant year in her career. Her performances in Yuva and the commercially successful Hum Tum earned her even more awards - the Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award for the former, and the Filmfare Best Actress Award for the latter. Her performance as a Pakistani lawyer in Veer-Zaara was also acclaimed and earned her many award nominations. She then became a major part of the Yash Raj Films, the biggest Bollywood production house.

In 2005, Mukherjee starred in four high-profile films. Bunty Aur Babli and The Rising were among the biggest grossers of the year. She received critical acclaim for every film, especially her performance in Black. She also won all the major awards for Black that year. These successes established Mukherjee as one of the industry's most bankable stars.

Mukherjee had two releases in 2006: Karan Johar's Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, which was one of the most successful movie of the year [13] and B.R. Chopra's Baabul. The poignant story of a widow did not shape up well with the audiences and the much hyped-movie performed poorly at the box office.

The actress has been an active stage performer and participated in numerous world tours. Temptations 2004 was her most successful concert, in which she performed alongside Shah Rukh Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Preity Zinta, Arjun Rampal and Priyanka Chopra. She also appeared along with various other Bollywood actors at the Closing Ceremony of the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, as part of a performance showcasing Indian culture, on behalf of the 2010 Commonwealth Games, to be held in Delhi. For her one-and-a-half-minute dance act alongside Saif Ali Khan, she was reportedly paid 1.5 crore rupees, the equivalent of about 300,000 U.S. dollars.

Raasi - Tamil and Telugu Actress

Raasi - Tamil and Telugu Actress
Raasi

She can be termed as a phenomenon. Within three years of graduating as a heroine from a child star, Rasi alias Manthra alias Vijaya has starred in about two dozen movies in Tamil and Telugu. Mostly box office hits. Her strong points - a bewitching smile, a convincing portrayal of any role,be it a college girl or a sentimental middle class wife. Still in her teens, amazingly she is able to carry a tormented wife's role(Snehitulu) or a dejected lover(Gokulamlo Seetha and Vasantha) with ease as she essays a college girl in the under production 'Swapna Lokam' directed by Bhemaneni Srinivasa Rao for producer 'Rasi' Narasimha Rao. Perizaad Zorabian - Bollywood Women

Perizaad Zorabian - Bollywood Women

Perizaad Zorabian (born 1973) is an Indian actress who made her debut with Nagesh Kukunoor's movie, Bollywood Calling. She had made appearances in many music videos earlier.

Zorabian studied in New York City and upon acquiring an MBA returned to India to assist her father in his poultry farm business.

She is a member of the Irani community, the 'newer' (in comparison to the Parsis) group of Zoroastrians of the Indian subcontinent. However, presumably because the subtle difference between the early and later (18th century onwards) Zoroastrian immigrants is not commonly known, Zorabian has at least once referred to herself as a "Parsi girl".

Zorabian married construction tycoon and alleged gangster Boman Rustom Irani (not to be confused with the actor Boman Irani) on 9th December 2006.

Zorabian made international headlines when she declined a role in a lesbian-centred film, citing her "own personal inhibitions about playing a lesbian” as the driving force behind her decision. Purva Bedi has since accepted the role in When Kiran Met Karen.

She acted in Jogger's Park with Victor Banerjee and other films such as Viral Lakhia's Namaste and Anant Balani's Mumbai Matinee. In the Chinese film, Bandung Sonata, she played Indira Gandhi.

She also acted in the film Morning Raga with co-star Shabana Azmi. Her most recent and on going film is Ek Ajnabee with co-star Amitabh Bachchan. She is also slated to appear with Malcolm McDowell in the film Exitz in which she plays an Indian model. Other upcoming projects are Moonlight, Highway 203, and Nikhil Advani's next film, Salaam E Ishq: A Tribute To Love.

Payal Rohatgi - Bollywood Actress

Payal Rohatgi is a Bollywood actress and item girl.( The classic meaning of "item number" refers to highly sexualized songs with racy imagery and suggestive lyrics. The "item number" would feature an "item girl" who appeared in the film as a dancer, usually in a bar or nightclub, and was only in the film for the length of that song.)

A computer engineer by profession, Payal Rohatgi won the title of Miss Tourism World in 2001, against candidates from 65 countries. She was also a finalist at the Femina Miss India contest in 2000. These successes encouraged Payal to enter the entertainment industry and so she moved to Mumbai.

She started her career by modelling for popular brands like Amul, Nirma, and Nescafe. She gained attention after appearing in a television ad for Cadbury's Temptations Chocholates. Around this time she also appeared in music videos by rock band Silk Route and Indipop artist Kay Kay.

After her career in Bollywood took off, Payal has cut back on the number of products she endorses. However, she has agreed to appear along with cricketer Virender Sehwag in an ad film for Dabur's Lal Dantmanjan. The film will be directed by Pradeep Sarkar.

Payal Rohatgi - Bollywood Actress

Payal's Bollywood acting debut was in Harry Baweja's Yeh Kya Ho Raha Hai, a Hindi remake of the Hollywood teen flick American Pie. However, she went unnoticed in the multi-starrer. She shot into the limelight with Tauba Tauba, a titillating movie where she played the object of a teenaged boy's lust.

She followed this up with a string of movies with sexual themes such as Fun, a movie about wife-swapping; and Mr. 100%, where the central character was a gigolo. Payal stated that she consciously chose movies that would get her noticed. However, she seemed to have a change of heart and dissociated herself from the movie Mazaa Mazaa, which she said was too vulgar.

In 2006, she appeared in the critically acclaimed Corporate where, ironically, she played the part of an item girl named Payal who sleeps her way to success.

Parminder Kaur Nagra - Indian Actress

Parminder Kaur Nagra was born October 5, 1975 in Leicester, UK and is a British actress of Indian descent.

Nagra was born to Sikh parents who immigrated to the UK from the Punjab region of northern India in the late 1960s. Affectionately known as "Mindi". Her middle name, meaning "Princess," is traditionally given to Sikh women (Sikh men traditionally have the middle name "Singh."). Her family background was decidedly working class. Her father, Sucha, a factory worker, is believed to have separated from her mother, Nashuter, a packer in a factory, when Parminder was a child. Parminder, her two younger brothers, and her younger sister were raised in a small terrace house in the Belgrave district of Leicester by her mother and stepfather, who worked as a bookkeeper at a cousin's transport company.

Parminder Kaur Nagra - Indian Actress

At the age of seven, Nagra suffered a burn that resulted in the scar shown in her 2002 breakout role in the internationally acclaimed film Bend It Like Beckham. While preparing a meal, a gas stove set her trousers alight. She was taken into the bathroom by an uncle and immersed in cold water. However, when the trouser fabric was removed, it took skin with it, resulting in a large scar on her right leg. The story was included into the film to explain the burn of Parminder's character.

Nagra attended Northfield House Primary School in Leicester. And it was at her comprehensive school, Soar Valley College, where she played viola in the youth orchestra and also appeared in her first theatrical productions.

In 1991, at the age of 16, Nagra took a job as an usher at the Leicester Haymarket Theatre, ostensibly to watch and learn from the local talent. Her former boss recalls her as brilliant, polite, and very sweet, but also that she was quiet, giving no hints as to her future rise to stardom.
