Bollywood is still wondering if the legendary Madhuri Dixit will accept the role of Indira Gandhi (India's first and only female Prime Minister) in Krishna Shah's upcoming biopic.
But while everyone is waiting on Madhuri, Krishna is approaching Hollywood stars like Tom Hanks, Tommy Lee Jones, Albert Finney, Helen Mirren and Emily Watson for roles in the movie.
But while her role as Indira Gandhi may still be up in the air, Madhuri appears to be going ahead with portraying another historical Indian figure, Ambapali (Ambapālika or Amrapāli).
Indian film director and choreographer Farah Khan is planning to produce a Broadway show based on Amrapali, and she wants Madhuri for the lead.
Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra continues her dominance over at Twitter.

Another Bollywood film generating a lot of buzz is My Name Is Khan starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol.
Just by looking at the trailer, both Kajol and Khan look they turn in very powerful performances.
The ever popular Aishwarya Rai is very busy these days.
She is filming the science-fiction Tamil–language film Endhiran, the Tamil language drama film Raavana (and the same movie Raavan in Hindi), the time travel film Action Replay and finally (for now at least) Guzaarish.
But Ash did take time out recently to actually do her own Tweet on Twitter, although she was on her husband Abhishek’s account.

CNN.com has an article up about the incredible rise of Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone. I didn't realize her path to stardom was so humble, but in reading this, I think in the future, the life of Deepika might actually make a good film itself.

I mentioned awhile back about Bollywood actress Mallika Sherawat using her Twitter account, but I really had no idea so many Bollywood beauties used Twitter. Besides Mallika, Aishwarya Rai, Preity Zinta, Bipasha Basu, Madhuri Dixit and Ayesha Takia all have Twitter accounts, among others. You should be able to find their accounts with a Twtter Search.
Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor is featured on Maxim magazine on it's cover. Kareena is getting a lot of press lately, including the fact that she was on Filmfare Magazine’s “most powerful women” list. Kareena has also told the press that she's putting marriage on the back burner to pursue her career.
And Madhuri Dixit has sparked a controversy, but not intentionally. There's a lake in Arunachal Pradesh called Tsho-nga Tser that the locals began to refer to as " Madhuri " after Shah Rukh Khan and Madhuri Dixit shot Koyla there. The locals seem to be more than a little upset that their lake is being renamed by outsiders.
And finally, Bollywood beauty Mallika Sherawat has signed to make a film called “Female Barack Obama”, which is based on San Francisco Attorney General Kamala Harris. Mallika is in LA of the post production of her film "Hisss" and has been burning up Twitter while shes been there. Mallika is one of the most followed Bollywood personalities on Twitter with over 6000 fans. She's even set to make a side trip to Twitter HQ on July 14th. Bollywood producer, singer, actress and former Miss India 1984, Juhi Chawla, is certainly getting around these days.
She is being profiled on " Superstars Superlives" this week on ZoOM along with other Bollywood beauties Madhuri Dixit, Kajol Devgan and Rani Mukherjee.
Juhi was a judge on the reality dance show Jhalak Dikkhla Jha along with Saroj Khan and Vaibhavi Merchant.
Along with other Bollywood stars Preity Zinta, Shilpa Shetty, Arjun Rampal and Shahrukh Khan she is involved in the IPL (The Indian Premier League, a Twenty20 cricket competition).
And Juhi was in this years Luck By Chance, an Indian drama film written and directed by Zoya Akhtar. Although critics mainly liked it, it didn't do too well at the box office.
But since 1986, she has been in almost 90 films. So I dont think one performing badly is going to hurt her much. Besides the almost 90 films, she has produced three films, Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani (2000), Asoka (2001) and Chalte Chalte (2003).
Madhuri Dixit will be the chief guest at the Sixteen: Nine International Film Festival of Usha Pravin Gandhi College in Vile Parle, Mumbai. On January 13th, the former Bollywood superstar will be giving away the awards at the end of the 2 day festival.
Veteran actress Shabana Azmi, Imran Khan, producers Sanjay Gupta and Ravi Chopra and director Goldie Behl will also be giving away awards.
Madhuri was the Guest of Honor at the International Kite Festival held at The Club in Andheri, Mumbai on Sunday.
Madhuri will also be on the Unforgettable Tour as it tours India in mid 2009. The Unforgettable Tour in India will be held in Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai and Kolkata.
In 2008, Madhuri was awarded the Padma Shri, India's fourth-highest civilian award, by the Government of India. She was also nominated for the 2008 Filmfare Best Actress Award for her role as Diya in Aaja Nachle and for the 2008 Stardust Star of the Year Award - Female, also for Aaja Nachle. Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit, who won many hearts with her million-dollar-smile and returned to the silver screen with Aaja Nachle after a five-year hiatus last year, has been named among the Padma Shri awardees this year.
The ravishing actress has several hits to her credit, including Tezaab, Dil, Dil To Pagal Hain and Devdas.
Though her comeback film, after marriage to a US-based doctor and two kids, proved to be a dud at the box office, Madhuri remained unfazed. "I have never been a part of number game and we are not the racing horses who should be numbered. Either the work you do is good or bad. I have come back not because I miss the media archlights or being written about... it's secondary. I missed my craft!" she was quoted as saying.

Konkona Sen Sharma and stage fright don't go together. But when the actress heard that she had to dance with the nimble-footed Madhuri Dixit in Aaja Nachle, she nearly ran away.
"It was scary," laughed Konkona.
Directed by Anil Mehta of Parineeta fame, the film revolves around an ageing actress, played by Madhuri, and how she gets friendly with a young actress while working in a play and shares her secrets with her.
"Sharing acting space with Madhuri didn't make me that nervous. I knew I could manage to hold my own in that department. But one has to be totally crazy to even attempt to match dance steps with Madhuri. I thought I'd faint when I had to dance with her," Konkona told IANS.
"Fortunately, our choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant gave me steps that didn't make me look foolish in front of Madhuri. In fact, the film requires unequal dancing between Madhuri and the rest of us in the cast," she added.

Writer-director N. Chandra who was instrumental in Madhuri Dixit’s star-trek with ‘Tezaab’ has just completed the filming of ‘Breaking News’. As he is working on its finishing touches, he is also working on a sequel to his film ‘Tezaab’.
The serious movie-maker is peeved with media reports that he has been negotiating with Madhuri Dixit and Anil Kapoor for ‘Tezaab 2’. “Of course I would love to work with such competent actors like Madhuri and Anil. But I am not considering either of them because the audience will feel a déjà vu if they see the same faces in a sequel. My script requires the gen-next known actors,” insists Chandrashekhar Narvekar.
Madhuri Dixit (born as Madhuri Shankar Dixit to a Marathi family on May 15, 1967) is an Indian Bollywood actress. She is a native of Mumbai, India. Throughout the late 1980s and the 1990s, she dominated Hindi cinema as a leading actress, appearing in many hit films. She is considered to be an icon of the Bollywood film industry .
Dixit attended Parle College and wanted to be a micro-biologist . She is trained as a Kathak dancer, in the Indian classical tradition. She made her acting debut in Abodh (1984). After a few minor and supporting roles her first major role was in Tezaab (1988) which launched her career. She then went on to star in the hit films Dayavan (1988), Ram Lakhan (1989), Dil (1990), Saajan (1991), Beta (1992), Khalnayak (1993), and the biggest blockbuster in Bollywood history, Hum Aapke Hain Kaun! (1994). After three years of little success, she appeared as Pooja in the successful Dil To Pagal Hai (1997) for which she won her fourth Filmfare Best Actress Award.
For many years, she was considered to be the most popular and powerful actress in Bollywood, known for her beauty, acting talents, and dancing skills. Nearly all her hit dancing sequences were choreographed by Saroj Khan.
In 2001, Dixit was awarded the National Citizens Award to recognise various activities that effect everyday life.
In 2002, she starred in Devdas, with actor Shahrukh Khan and Miss World 1994 Aishwarya Rai. Madhuri Dixit was applauded for her acting in the film. The film attracted worldwide attention and was featured at the Cannes Film Festival. Since then she has not appeared in any films.
On February 25, 2006 she performed on stage for the first time in six years at the Filmfare Awards to music from her last movie Devdas . Her performance was choreographed by Saroj Khan and was very well received.
Madhuri Dixit has been the muse for the famous Indian painter M.F. Hussain who considers her the epitome of the Indian woman. She also appeared in his film Gaja Gamini (2000). Gaja Gamini was intended as a tribute to Dixit's talent and beauty..
On December 7, 2006, Dixit returned to Mumbai along with her husband and sons in order to start to film her new movie, to be produced by Yash Chopra and directed by Anil Mehta.
