Kajol and Kareena Kapoor in We Are Family

Kajol's latest film was just released and it seems to be doing fairly well.
It should, considering it stars two of the hottest actresses in Bollywood.
We Are Family was directed by Siddharth Malhotra, produced by Karan Johar, stars Kajol, Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal and is a remake of the 1998 Hollywood film Stepmom.

In the film, Kajol plays Maya, a stay at home wife who gave up her career to raise her three children.
She has divirced her husband Aman (Arjun Rampal) and the story centers around Aman introducing his new girlfriend, Shreya (Kareena Kapoor).

Shreya is the opposite of Maya, a career oriented woman, and the situation between them takes an unexpected turn when the two women are brought together under the same roof.

Of course being a Bollywood film, it differs from it's Hollywood counterpart in that it has six songs, including a tribute to Elvis Presley's Jailhouse Rock.

We Are Family seems to be doing pretty well with the critics.

This is Kajol and Kareena's second film together, the first being 2001's Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham...

Kajol said that she based a lot of her character Maya on her grandmother, Bina Rai, who passed away in December of last year.

Kajol, Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor and More

Kajol's much anticipated "My Name Is Khan" will be released on February 12, 2010, but the soundtrack was already released on January 4, 2010.
The music is by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, with lyrics by Niranjan Iyengar.
You can go here http://www.songs5.com/My_Name_is_Khan-2256.html to get free downloads of the film's music.
The film will be shown at the Berlin in International Film Festival from Feb 11 to 21, 2010.

I mentioned in an earlier post that beautiful Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra would be starring in the upcoming Bollywood film "Seven" as a woman that weds seven different men.
(Among those men are Malayalam superstar and National Award winner Mohanlal and Indian actor Hrithik Roshan)
But unlike "What’s Your Rashee?" where the lovely Priyanka played twelve different roles, in this one, she will only be playing one.
It seems that "What’s Your Rashee?" was enough for Priyanka, but rumors say she has said that she will never play multiple roles in her again.
Can you blame her?
That has to be VERY taxing on anyone.
"Pyaar Impossible", her last film got mixed reviews, so lets hope "Seven" does a lot better.

Kareena Kapoor will be co-starring with ShahRukh Khan in the upcoming superhero film, "Ra-1".
And Kareena will be showing up in the film not only in real life, but as an animated character as well.
Rumor also has it that as opposed to films like "The Dark Knight", the films set will be lively and brightly colored.
Hey, it may be a nice change from the constant gloom we get in super hero flicks today.

I mentioned in the last entry that Aishwarya Rai will be starring in the upcoming Sci-Fi movie Endhiran.
What I didnt mention was that this will be Aishwarya's Tamil cinema debut.
And Endhiran will most likely wind up being the most expensive film ever made in Indian cinema.
Endhiran is expected to be released on April 14, 2010.
If you'd like to keep up on how things are going with the film, you can head over to http://www.directorshankaronline.com/ and check out director S Shankar's blog.

There seems to maybe be a little tension on the set of the comedy movie "No Problem" directed by Anees Bazme.
And the tension is coming in the form, or rather forms, of Sushmita Sen, Kangna Ranaut and Neetu Chandra.
Rumor has it that Neetu and Kangna aren't getting along that well on the set.
But you have to remember, that's all it is...a rumor.
Other reports from the set said that everything was going fine, and that everyone was having fun.
This is Kangna's first comedy, and she will be playing the younger sister of Sushmita Sen.

Madhuri Dixit, Priyanka Chopra, Kajol and Aishwarya Rai

Bollywood is still wondering if the legendary Madhuri Dixit will accept the role of Indira Gandhi (India's first and only female Prime Minister) in Krishna Shah's upcoming biopic.
But while everyone is waiting on Madhuri, Krishna is approaching Hollywood stars like Tom Hanks, Tommy Lee Jones, Albert Finney, Helen Mirren and Emily Watson for roles in the movie.
But while her role as Indira Gandhi may still be up in the air, Madhuri appears to be going ahead with portraying another historical Indian figure, Ambapali (Ambapālika or Amrapāli).
Indian film director and choreographer Farah Khan is planning to produce a Broadway show based on Amrapali, and she wants Madhuri for the lead.

Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra continues her dominance over at Twitter.
As of this entry, she has over 103,000 followers.
And Twitter is not the only place that the lovely Bollywood actress can be found.
Over at Facebook, she has 34,000 fans.
AND Priyanka has her own website coming soon that you can see here:
http://www.iampriyankachopra.com/

And speaking of Priyanka, here is a video promo for her upcoming Bollywood film "Pyaar Impossible"

Another Bollywood film generating a lot of buzz is My Name Is Khan starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol.
Just by looking at the trailer, both Kajol and Khan look they turn in very powerful performances.

The ever popular Aishwarya Rai is very busy these days.
She is filming the science-fiction Tamil–language film Endhiran, the Tamil language drama film Raavana (and the same movie Raavan in Hindi), the time travel film Action Replay and finally (for now at least) Guzaarish.
But Ash did take time out recently to actually do her own Tweet on Twitter, although she was on her husband Abhishek’s account.
So when is Ash gonna get her own Twitter account?

Upcoming Kajol Movies

Now that the filming of My Name Is Khan has wrapped up, Kajol is finishing up on her next upcoming Bollywood film, an adaptation of the 1998 American comedy-drama, Stepmom.
The original starred Julia Roberts and Susan Sarandon, and the Bollywood remake will star Kajol (in the role Susan Sarandon played in the original) and Kareena Kapoor (in the Julia Roberts role).
As of yet, the film is still officially not titled.

kajol-bollywood

In contrast to what you hear about a lot of Bollywood actress sniping at each other, Kajol and Kareena appear to be getting along fabulously.

My Name Is Khan and the Stepmom Remake are not her only upcoming roles as Kajol will be involved in India's first Live-Action and 3D animation combination feature film, Toonpur Ka Superhero and doing a voice in the animated take on Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Koochie Koochie Hota Hain.
Shahrukh Khan, Rani Mukherji, Sanjay Dutt will also be doing voices in the film.

Here is an interview with Kajol from NDTV where she talks about working on My Name Is Khan...

Bollywood Actress News - Priyanka Chopra, Kajol and More

More Bollywood actress news with Priyanka Chopra, Kajol, Madhuri Dixit, Kareena Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai, so lets get started...

It looks like it's turning into a numbers game for Priyanka Chopra movies.
Recently she released "What's Your Raashee?" in which she played twelve different characters, and now she is slated to star in the upcoming Bollywood movie "Seven" as a character that has seven husbands.
Rumor has it that Indian film actor and producer Mohanlal will play one of her husbands, and that Indian actor Hrithik Roshan may play another.
Filming is schedualed to begin in 2010.

And while "Seven" may start filming in 2010, on Februrary 12th, a movie will come out that is generating a lot of buzz already.
"My Name is Khan" stars Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol.
Expect this Bollywood film to go big, as it is being distributed by Fox Star Studios India in India, Fox Searchlight in the U.S. and 20th Century Fox worldwide.
And to boost it even further, the first promo for "My Name is Khan" will be released with James Cameron's much anticipated Avatar, which opens globally on December 18.

Madhuri Dixit is in negotiations to play her her idol former prime minister Indira Gandhi in Krishna Shah's biopic.
But don't expect this film to have an easy path.
Biopics on Indira Gandhi by Jagmohan Mundhra and N. Chandra have been tried and shot down already.
Madhuri is a legend in Hindi cinema so don't expect her to commit until things are a bit more finalized with the film.

Karan Johar's new Bollywood film "Kurbaan" has not made a killing at the box office and been getting mixed reviews, but everyone seems to think that Kareena Kapoor (as Avantika Ahuja) has turned in a great performance.
The film that had location shoots in Philadelphia and Brooklyn, ran into a bit of trouble before release when a petition was filed in the Bombay High Court to stay the release of movie.
After responses from Karan Johar, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor, the court declined to stay the release of the film.
But back to Kareena....

Gaurav Malani for IndiaTimes Movies said...
"After long, Kareena Kapoor gets a role of substance that brings her performing potential to the fore."

Taran Adarsh/IndiaFM...
"As for Kareena, Kurbaan reiterates one fact yet again: She's the best in the business. No two opinions on that!"

Masand's Movie Review...
"Kareena Kapoor goes for a simmering, slow-burning performance that eventually punches you in the gut."

Udita Jhunjhunwal DNAIndia...
"Kareena Kapoor looks lovely and plays her part with sincerity, even though Avantika is not a strong character."

Of course Ben Kingsley is well known for his Oscar winning performance playing Gandhi, but now he wil bring another figure in Indian history to life, Shah Jahan, the man who built the Taj Mahal.
And starring as Mumtaz Mahal, (Jahan's favored wife and the woman whose death inspired the construction of the Taj Mahal) will be the lovely Aishwarya Rai.
The upcoming film "Taj" will have a budget over $30 million dollars and Kingsley will not only star in the movie, but produce it as well.

Juhi Chawla News

Juhi Chawla, bollywood photo, bollywood picture

Bollywood producer, singer, actress and former Miss India 1984, Juhi Chawla, is certainly getting around these days.

She is being profiled on " Superstars Superlives" this week on ZoOM along with other Bollywood beauties Madhuri Dixit, Kajol Devgan and Rani Mukherjee.

Juhi was a judge on the reality dance show Jhalak Dikkhla Jha along with Saroj Khan and Vaibhavi Merchant.

Along with other Bollywood stars Preity Zinta, Shilpa Shetty, Arjun Rampal and Shahrukh Khan she is involved in the IPL (The Indian Premier League, a Twenty20 cricket competition).

And Juhi was in this years Luck By Chance, an Indian drama film written and directed by Zoya Akhtar.
Although critics mainly liked it, it didn't do too well at the box office.

But since 1986, she has been in almost 90 films. So I dont think one performing badly is going to hurt her much.
Besides the almost 90 films, she has produced three films, Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani (2000), Asoka (2001) and Chalte Chalte (2003).

South Indian Actress: Sandhya

South Indian Actress: Sandhya
Sandhya is a South Indian actress renowned for her expressive face. Her real name is Revathy but she uses the name Sandhya because "Revathy" has already been taken by an older tollywood actress. She was born in Kerala in 1989, but brought up in Chennai, Tamilnadu. Her father was transferred to Chennai when she was two years old. Her father is a bank employee, while her mother is a beautician. Her brother is studying in SRM College, Chennai. After her superb performance in her first movie, "Kadhal", opposite Bharath, she was often referred to as Kutty Kajol, a famous Bollywood actress.

Sandhya was an ordinary school going shy girl until she starred in the critically acclaimed Tamil love story Kaadhal. She was studying in vidyodaya school and her father used to drop her and pick her up at school daily. It was on one such day that she was spotted by director film director Balaji Sakthivel and was offered the female lead role in Kaadhal. She planned to do the Visual Communications course after her plus two. However, due to her rising fame especially after the super-hit Dishyum, her second Tamil film, she had to discontinue her studies before even passing her 10th standard.

After Kaadhal, which remarkably on her first film won her the best Filmfare South actress of 2004, she took up a Malayalam film titled Alice in Wonderland. Then came the musical romance Dishyum with Jeeva.

She was also a part of Mani Ratnam's stage show, Netru, Indru, Naalai. Vallavan, her third Tamil film, Vallavan, did not do justice to her acting prowess as she was offered such a suprisingly small role; neither did the film set the box office on fire.

She is now signed on Koodal Nagar with her former co-star Bharath and a Selvaraghavan film. She is getting ready to indulge in some playback singing for her new Tamil film Manjal Veiyil.

She's been approached for dubbing for Shriya in Sivaji but at last minute director Shankar prefered actress Kanika's voice.

Manisha Koirala - Bollywood Actress

Manisha Koirala - Bollywood Actress

Manisha Koirala was born on August 16, 1970 in Kathmandu, Nepal.
She is a Bollywood actress, UNFPA Goodwill Ambassador and social activist.
Koirala is also an accomplished Bharatnatyam and Manipuri dancer.

Koirala was born into a prominent political Koirala family; her grandfather, and two of her great uncles were Prime Ministers of Nepal. She studied at New Delhi's Army Public School and her ambition was to be a doctor, but a modeling stint opened a career pathway into Bollywood.

Her first film was Pheri Dhidora (We shall meet again), a Nepali movie released in early 1989. Her first Hindi movie was Saudagar which was directed by Subhash Ghai. After that she worked with directors like Mani Ratnam, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Shekhar Kapoor, Ram Gopal Verma, Rajkumar Santoshi, Mansoor Khan and many others.

She went on to star in many hits such as 1942: A Love Story and Bombay. Her performance in the latter gave her the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Performance. The film was directed by Mani Ratnam, and she starred in his next film Dil Se as well in 1998. 1996 was her year with her films Agnisakshi doing well at the box office and her highly acclaimed role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Khamoshi: The Musical. She played an important role in the alongside Kajol and Bobby Deol in the super hit Gupt. She starred with Ajay Devgan in the film Company directed by Ram Gopal Verma She also starred in the leading role in couple of Tamil and Telugu movies.

She produced the small-budget caper-comedy Paisa Vasool (2004) in which she starred along with Sushmita Sen and was directed by Srinivas Bhashyam; this was probably the first ever chick-flick in Indian cinema in that it didn't have a male lead nor a love story, though most of her films have not done well at the box office but her niche as an actor remains harmless irrespective of box office collections. She was nominated for Filmfare awards for her performances in 1942:A Love Story, Bombay, Akele Hum Akele Tum, Agnisakshi, Dil se and Khamoshi; for which she picked up trophies for Bombay, Khamoshi and a surprise award for the film Company. She has won the Screen award once for Khamoshi- The Musical.

Recently she returned from New York after receiving a diploma in film making.

In September 1999, Koirala was appointed as a UNFPA Goodwill Ambassador. She is actively involved in social work, specifically working with organizations to promote women’s rights, prevention of violence against women, and also to prevent the human trafficking of Nepali girls.
